The statistics from the Electric Tool Branch of the China Electrical Equipment Industry Association show that currently, 85% of electric tool products in our country are used for export, while the domestic market only accounts for 10% to 15% of the share. In the domestic market, domestic enterprises are in an absolutely leading trend in terms of market share, with over 90% of the market occupied by domestic products.
According to statistics from the Electric Tool Branch of the China Electrical Equipment Industry Association, currently 85% of electric tool products in China are used for export, while the domestic market only accounts for 10% to 15% of the share. In the domestic market, domestic enterprises are in an absolute leading trend in terms of market share, with over 90% of the market occupied by domestic products.
"In the export products, our products are mainly tested and certified according to the standards of the exporting countries. Now, our products can pass the strictest product certifications in the world, including Germany's GS certification and the United States' UL certification. Our products can meet these standards, and the quality of the entire export product has been continuously improving," said Zhang Chuanfu.
For a long time, raw materials have been an important factor affecting the quality of electric tool products in China. Five years ago, a company in Suzhou received a complaint from a German customer, claiming that the S1M-125 angle grinder they sold contained PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) and exceeded the standard, requesting a return. This batch of products involved 134,000 units and 1.13 million dollars. Subsequently, electric hammers, jigsaws, sanders, impact drills, and electric wood routers produced by more than a dozen companies involved were suspended from sale, and those not shipped were also suspended from shipment, with some products being detained at the port. PAHs are hydrocarbons that contain more than two benzene rings in their molecules, including more than 150 compounds such as naphthalene, phenanthrene, and pyrene. "If waste materials are used as raw materials, degradation occurs due to repeated use, leading to the generation of PAHs. However, if high-quality materials are used, this problem can be completely avoided, although it will increase costs, but the quality will be more guaranteed," said Zhang Chuanfu.
Now, with the implementation of a series of technical directives such as the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (ROHS), the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE), and the Energy-Using Products Eco-Design Requirements Framework Directive (EUP Directive), the requirements for electric tools in terms of environmental protection and safety in the European and American markets have become stricter. "Currently, Chinese enterprises can fully meet foreign technical standards and environmental protection requirements in terms of raw materials," Zhang Chuanfu stated, adding that the raw materials for electric tool products in China will increasingly trend towards environmental protection.
Production equipment is no longer reliant on imports.
The improvement in the quality of electric tool products in China is closely related to the higher and more environmentally friendly quality of raw materials, as well as the continuous improvement in the quality of electric tool production equipment.
It is understood that in the first 10 years of reform and opening up, the production equipment for electric tools in China was mainly imported; in the middle 10 years, key equipment still had to rely on imports. However, in the last 10 years, especially in the past 5 years, domestic electric tools have made substantial breakthroughs, and the quality of domestic automated and semi-automated production equipment has become very good.
Imported equipment is not only subject to foreign technology but also expensive, making it difficult for small and medium-sized enterprises to afford. Now, the quality of domestic manufacturing equipment is very good, and most domestic manufacturers are using domestic equipment. It can be said that the production equipment for electric tools in China is no longer reliant on imports," said Zhang Chuanfu.
According to reports, currently, whether it is gears in processing equipment or machine tools, domestic equipment is not inferior to imported equipment. "It should be said that by vigorously revitalizing the equipment manufacturing industry, such as the development of the machine tool industry, it has directly driven the improvement of the quality of electric tool production equipment and the increase in market share," said Zhang Chuanfu.
"Except for some very high-end and core equipment, domestic equipment can basically meet the daily production and manufacturing needs of our enterprises," said Shangguan Defa, deputy general manager of Jiangsu Jinding Electric Tool Group Co., Ltd.
